A Sunny 5th Edition at the Heart of Estonia

On 9-16 July 2023, the fifth in-person edition our Activist Academy brought together an international group of 25 LGBTQI young people in Tallinn, Estonia, for six days of learning, practising new skills, networking, and having fun!

We were thrilled to co-organise the event together with our local Member Organisation ECOM — The Eurasian Coalition on Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity, and to welcome for the first time participants from China and Indonesia in addition to participants from across the Council of Europe Region.

This year, the Activist Academy programme included Expert Workshops on Public Speaking, Workshop Design & Facilitation, Communications & Social Media, and Advocacy Campaigning. What's more is that we embarked on a queer tour of Tallinn led by local LGBTQI historian Taavi Koppel, in addition to other fun social activities.

Throughout the week, our 5 teams (The Vangs, the PROs, the Tallinguins, the Ghost Sockers and the Mooovement) put their new skills to the test to overcome two real-life challenges, leading up to a well-deserved graduation ceremony in a local queer space.

Thank you to all our participants, expert, mentors and team for making this 5th edition a successful one! If you're curious about how it went, check out the full photo album of the Activist Academy Tallinn 2023.

The Activist Academy Tallinn 2023 is co-organised by IGLYO and ECOM with the support of the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) 2021-2027 programme of the European Union, and the Dutch Ministry of Education Culture & Science.
