IGLYO — The International LGBTQI Youth & Student Organisation invites you to join us for an interactive online dialogue on Monkeypox and the stigma that often comes with diseases capable of sexual transmission. Over the last few months, we have seen a dramatic rise in cases of Monkeypox in areas where Monkeypox has not historically been reported. One of the communities most affected by this is the gay, bisexual and MSM (men who have sex with men) community.
Sex workers and adult entertainers, particularly those identifying as LGBTQ+, are at the forefront of combatting Monkeypox. However, public health efforts have focused rather narrowly on the MSM community.
With this in mind, we are excited to announce our collaboration with the European Sex Workers Alliance (ESWA). We will explore the most up to date information on Monkeypox, we will hear from a representative of ESWA on the unique experience of sex workers, as well as trying to explore, unpack and break stigma often associated with public health emergencies like this one.
The webinar will take place on Thursday 6 October 2022 at 13-14:30 CEST. You can register here. Once you register, we will need to approve your registration before you receive the link to join the Zoom meeting.
Ahead of the workshop, you can check our list of trustworthy resources to keep informed on Monkeypox. If you have any questions about the webinar, don't hesitate to contact Brian at brian@iglyo.com.
